Building Talent from the Ground Up: Caccia Home Services Partners with NOVAworks

October 1, 2026

Hiring the right person is just the beginning. Employers also need the time and resources to turn a promising new hire into a skilled, productive member of the team.

For Caccia Home Services, a plumbing and electrical company based in Burlingame, CA, partnering with NOVAworks provided both. Through a structured training plan, ongoing support, and financial assistance, Caccia was able to invest in a new employee while helping him build the skills for a career in the trades.

Investing in a New Hire

Caccia identified a promising candidate for their team and wanted to support his long-term success at the company. They understood what many skilled trades employers know: success on the job requires more than simply making the hire. A new employee needs time and training to learn the company’s processes, develop job-specific skills, and gain hands-on experience.

NOVAworks worked with Caccia Home Services to turn that training period into a workforce development opportunity through On-the-Job Training (OJT), helping the employer invest in the candidate’s development while building new skills he needed for the job.

Supporting the Employer and Employee

Working with one of NOVAworks’ business support specialists, Caccia established a training plan for its new hire, and put it into action. Over the course of 15 weeks, the employee received hands-on training alongside experienced staff while developing the necessary new skills.

NOVAworks remained involved throughout the process, regularly meeting with the employee and his supervisor to monitor progress, discuss training, and provide support when needed.

The partnership provided Caccia Home Services with financial support as well. NOVAworks reimbursed the company for 50 percent of the employee’s wages during the training period, helping offset the costs normally associated with onboarding a new employee.

Through NOVAworks’ Whole Person support model, the employee received financial support as well. NOVAworks covered some of his out-of-pocket work expenses, including $400 work boots and the cost of commuting.

A Meaningful Partnership

One of the strengths of the partnership was the ongoing connection between the employer, employee, and the NOVAworks team.  Support began before the employee’s start date and continued throughout the training program.

At the conclusion of the 15 weeks, NOVAworks visited the worksite to hear firsthand about the impact of the training. Both the Caccia supervisor and employee spoke highly of their experience.

“NOVAworks’ OJT program allowed our small business to hire someone in our community. The ongoing support and structured training helped make the experience successful for our new employee and company.” – Caccia Home Services Supervisor

The employee also described how the experience helped him explore a new career path and move closer to his professional goals.

“The OJT program helped me get closer to my goals by learning a new trade. Originally, I was interested in electrical, and being exposed to this environment has encouraged me to learn plumbing. Since I’m working at a home services company, I’m now closer to getting out in the field and having my own truck as I develop my skills.” – Caccia Home Services Warehouse Trainee

Building a Stronger Workforce

Caccia’s experience demonstrates what can happen when an employer is willing to invest in talent and has a workforce partner supporting that investment.

For NOVAworks, partnerships like this are about more than filling a position. They are about helping local employers build the workforce they need while creating pathways for people to develop skills, advance in their careers, and access greater economic opportunities.
